The VW Transporter that was first launched
in 1950 and became wildly popular due to its capacious interiors, low running
and maintenance costs. Soon it became the preferred vehicle for an entire
generation of footloose youngsters who took to the roads with their camping
gear and provisions stowed away in the vehicle. In the 60 years that followed
the basic VW Transporter has gone through many evolutions and adaptations
–there are passenger carriers and cargo transporters as well as ambulances,
hearses, police vans…you name it there has been a VW Transporter adapted to
that need.
Celebrating the iconic status of the VW
Transporter in the United Kingdom for the last 17 years has been the VANFEST,
the premier VW festival. Held at the Malvern showground,
it has become the ultimate celebration for the legendary vehicle with the
participation of thousands of vehicles and a larger number of visitors. The 2012
VW event that will be held during 7-9 September promises to
be bigger and better than ever before. Rebranded as the BUSFEST as the right of
use of the VANFEST brand no longer rests with us, this year we should see
entries by more than 8000 VW buses and the number of attendees exceeding 25000.
While the identity of the VW festivalis
undergoing a change everything else remains the same, the logo, the organisers,
the venue, and the excitement…literally everything.
If you are keen to participate in this
year’s BUSFEST, then we suggest that you get cracking immediately. Tickets,
either daily or for the full duration of the VW event are
best bought in advance from our website www.busfest.org.
